Many Options from Castilla Y Leon


Nine provinces make up Castilla Y Leon; they are Avila, Leon, Burgos, Zamora, Salamanca, Palencia, Segovia, Valladolid and Soria. Castilla Y Leon is the largest region in Spain and the European Union. Its elevated plain is set by the various mountain ranges surrounding it with the Duero River running towards Portugal.

 The two huge regions of Castilla and Leon combined in 1983 as Castilla Y Leon with the unity of Leong and Castilla la Vieja. Both regions boast of important Spanish medieval history with many displays of cathedrals, castles, monasteries and fortified towns which have been well conserved.

Besides the historical monuments, Castilla y Leon has plenty of natural parks and reserves that are unadulterated with the lush oak trees and cork-oaks.Another famous attraction in Castilla Y Leon is its tantalizing gastronomic offers. Its scrumptious meat dishes especially that of lamb is usually done up with vegetables. There are plenty of fiestas which are merrily celebrated in grand scales according to the traditional folklore and colorful culture in the region.

City Attractions

One of the great cities in Castilla Y Leon is Salamanca. It boasts of the oldest university in Europe blended with astounding natural beauty and rich heritage. Segovia is another great city in Castilla Y Leon with its famous ancient Roman monuments such as its huge Roman aqueducts that can be easily identified across the villa in spain . Here, one can enjoy the Alcazar and other impressive Gothic cathedrals.

Avila is yet another historical town with impressive Romanesque walls surrounding it to contain its history beautifully while Burgos has plenty of historical monuments to track the region’s history; these include the famous Gothic styled cathedral. Leon was the Kingdom of Leon capital with impressive Gothic cathedrals and churches bearing a lot of delightful Romanesque frescoes and Renaissance structures. One can even enjoy the legendary gold mines that were set up during the Roman era. Zamora offers many magnificent cathedrals and churches of Visigothic and Romanesque structures with a natural glacier lake.



Valladolid boasts of an important sculpture museum that showcases many of Spain’s artisan works with lots of fiestas celebrated here. There are plenty of ancient monuments and castles from the medieval times. Soria town is situated at the Duero River with magnificent Romanesque churches while Palencia also boasts of many unique Romanesque monuments that include cathedrals and churches. It sports an archaeological museum that beholds many of the historical pieces found in the region.
