Monuments in Madrid

Madrid is home for various monuments and they form the major attraction feature in the city. The monuments hold great historical value for the city and they are composed of different centuries and eras. They are some of the things you can never miss in the city and it is always interesting to have a look some of these magnificent pieces within the city.

Monuments before 16th century: the highlights of period before 16th century include walls of Madrid, Iglesia de San Pedro el Grande, Iglesia de San Nicolas de los Servitas and Casa de los Lujanes.

16th century monuments: the monuments here in Madrid include Casa Cisneros, Capilla del Obispo, Monasterio de las Descalzas Reales and the Segovia Bridge.

17th century monuments: the monuments in the city from this century are Monasterio del la Encarnacion, Casa de la Panaderia, Claustro monastery, Palacia de Uceda and Plaza Mayor. Others are Plaza de la Villa and Colegiata de San Isidro.

18th century monuments: they include post office building, Palacio Real, Royal custom office, La Casa de Postas and the Prado Museum. You will also find the fountains Cibeles, Apollo and Neptune great pieces of art and history. Other monuments here are Puerta de Alcala, Botanical Gradens, Toledo Bridge and the astronomical observatory.

19th century monuments: Madrid is also home to various monuments from the 19th century with some of the most outstanding being Royal Palace, Opera House, Toledo Triumph arc, the Senate Palace and theater house Teatro de la Zarzuela.
